TECHNICAL FAQ

Why the electric bicycle?

Because we see the electrically assisted bicycle (VAE) as an indisputable solution to mobility problems. Economical to use, interactive, pleasant, light and having a considerable advantage over the scooter and the electric car… even without a battery, it still goes ahead!

But what is an electrically assisted bicycle?

This is a bicycle equipped with a battery that powers a motor integrated into the crankset. This motor increases your pedaling force tenfold, which makes cycling easier and more enjoyable. Small differences, but big impact: elimination of climbs, wind, sweat ... If we compare it to other electric vehicles, the electric bike is the one that offers the best weight / range / cost of use performance. It is this man / machine synergy, its small footprint and its cost of use that make the eBike the most efficient of electric vehicles.

Do pedelecs have speeds?

Yes, to make the most of the qualities of the Bosch mid-engine, it is preferable to have speeds.

Do I have to pedal to move forward?

Yes, but without forcing! Finally, unless you feel like it… Indeed, the VAE remains a bicycle because the electric assistance is triggered only when pedaling. A torque sensor transmits the information to a controller which adjusts the power delivered by the motor according to your effort. As soon as you stop pedaling, the engine shuts off instantly. It will restart on the next pedal stroke.

Is there a person's weight limit?

The components we have selected as well as our frames are designed for a maximum load of 120 Kg.

Is there a positive effect for health?

Obviously !!! Because the cyclist ultimately takes more pleasure in pedaling, by adjusting his efforts, “without getting into the red”. He does more km than he would do with his bike and therefore as much physical exercise. The icing on the cake is when you use your eBike instead of your car! So there it is triply beneficial ... For health, nature and your wallet. The eBike therefore allows you to maintain yourself physically, efficiently and smoothly.

What is the engine power?

Nominal power of 250W, this is the limit imposed by the regulations.
The power peaks can go higher, up to 500W for the Bosch motor.

Can I choose my level of assistance?

Thanks to the control interface on your handlebars, you can dose your assistance very precisely. The Bosch system has 4 different riding modes (eco, tour, spot / EMTB, turbo) to adapt the bike to its style of riding. The assistance can also be cut (0) without cutting the battery.

In addition, the screen shows you the following information in a very legible way:

  • Instantaneous speed
  • Total distance traveled
  • Daily distance
  • Assistance mode
  • Battery charge level
  • Autonomy
Is the eBike really effective when it goes up?

Not all of them… But with a Bosch CX motor then there YES, even with 20% help (eco mode). The BOSCH mid-motor takes advantage of your e-bike's gear shifting system… and just like with your car, when you put in the first gear, you can climb trees! This feature helps maintain a high level of torque, maximize the performance of the bike and increase range. You just have to use your electric bike like a normal bike and change gears when necessary.

When does the e-bike drive work?

v /// EMTB The e-bike drive helps you during your run as long as you pedal. Without pedaling, no assistance. The degree of assistance always depends on the force you apply when pedaling. If you apply little force, the assistance is less than when you apply a lot of force. This is independent of the mode and level of assistance. The e-bike drive stops automatically at a speed greater than 25 km / h. If the speed drops below 25 km / h, the drive is automatically available again. You can use the e-bike at any time as a normal bicycle without assistance, if you switch off the battery or set the assistance level to "0". The same applies if the battery is empty.

    • ≪ OFF ≫ : electric assistance is deactivated, the eBike can be used as a normal bicycle without assistance. In this level of assistance, push assistance cannot be activated.
    • ≪ECO≫ : effective assistance with maximum efficiency for maximum distance. Your effort is multiplied by 1,50
    • ≪ TOWER ≫ : regular assistance for laps of long courses. Your effort is multiplied by 2,20
    • ≪ SPORT / EMTB≫ : powerful assistance, for sporting routes on mountainous paths as well as for urban traffic. Your effort is multiplied by 2,90
    • ≪TURBO≫ : maximum assistance up to high pedaling frequencies, for sporty routes. Your effort is multiplied by 3,75.
Is the eBike complicated to use?

No, if you can ride a bicycle… You can ride a bicycle… electrically assisted.

However, here are some tips before each use of a Mustache eBike:

  • Check that your battery has a sufficient level of charge.
  • Check that the battery is securely fixed and locked in its holder.
  • It is important to start the system without having your feet on the pedals so as not to falsify the data from the force sensor.
  • If you have to carry your eBike, do not use the handle located on the battery ...

What is the autonomy?

Autonomy depends on many factors:

  • type of course more or less hilly, rugged
  • level of assistance chosen
  • cyclist's weight
  • Wind
  • type of driving
  • type of bike

Be careful in real use, depending on the different modes and depending on the route, count on a real range of between 30 km (difficult conditions) and 100 km (good conditions)
